🌿 Roots & Recipes – celebrating heritage through food
We’re bringing together refugees and asylum seekers in Leeds to share their favourite traditional recipes and the stories behind them.
Roots & Recipes, funded by the Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust, is a Leeds community project celebrating culture, connection and community through food. Together, we’ll create a beautiful community cookbook that reflects the rich heritage and traditions of people who now call Leeds home.
Participants can:
🍲 Share their recipe and the story behind it
🤝 Meet new people and connect through food
📚 Contribute to a community cookbook
How to get involved

Or join a friendly in-person session later this year (venues to be confirmed in November)
Sessions will begin in late 2025, and we’d love to hear from anyone with a recipe and a story to share.
