Board Member

I have been on Leeds Involving People’s Board since November 2015, when I was elected on.  I represent and promote LIP across Leeds. I am also involved with various other charities, with a special focus on blindness as this affects me.

I’m a trustee on the Board of Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind, and a member of Patient Experience for the Blind, of Leeds Teaching Hospital Network forum community health part trust and of Leeds Teaching Hospital patient assurance.  I’m also a member of Leeds North Clinical Commissioning Group, the treasurer of Disability Leeds City Council, a member of macular Leeds support group, National Federation of the Blind, R.P. Fight Blind, and R.N.I.B.

My working life was really very varied. I worked as a boiler maintenance clerk, a car leasing maintenance clerk, a progress chaser for a printing company making game cards, and as a postman. In the late ’80s, I worked as an assistant service coordinator in a company with 100 computer engineers and admin staff. Finally I worked in a call centre up until 2007, when I retired.
